Sag Rods
Purlins sag. It’s physics. Span a steel section 20 feet between supports, load it with roofing sheets and insulation, add wind pressure, something has to give. That’s the problem. Sag rods are the solution.
A sag rod is a threaded mild steel tension member that connects adjacent purlins, preventing mid-span deflection and maintaining roof plane alignment. Vaibhav Laxmi Industries manufactures these in standard diameters from M10 to M20, with lengths custom-cut to match your purlin spacing.
Installation is straightforward: the rod passes through pre-punched holes in the purlin web, secured at both ends with nuts and washers. Once tightened, the rod network distributes loads across multiple purlins, reducing individual member stress and eliminating the twist common in Z and C sections under roof slope conditions.
Our MS sag rods come hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance in both enclosed and open-air structures. Material grades available: 4.6 for light-duty applications, 5.6 for standard warehouse construction, 8.8 for heavy industrial loads. All rods are IS 1367 compliant with full threading for adjustment flexibility.
